The General has Met His Match

1969 Dodge Charger General Lee
VS.

2012 Dodge Charger R/T
If you've watched the Dukes of Hazzard, either the original show or the movie remake, you already know what the top car is. 250 were built, and this is one of the 17 that survived filming. All of the cars built either featured a 318, 383, or 440 CID Block HEMI V8 engine with over 330 horsepower. It was known as one of the best performance cars of its time, giving stunt drivers the ease of pulling off awesome stunt moves as seen in the movies. Now, if you've been to the Chicago Auto Show or have been on Dodge's website lately, you probably know the car below the General Lee: the latest Dodge Charger. Dodge recently went back to the drawing board and redesigned the Charger from the ground up. It's no longer a cheap businessman's road car. It is now a full-fledged 4-Door, 5-Seater sports coupe. The version you see here, the R/T, has a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine producing 370 horsepower. 0 to 60 is done in just 5.1 seconds on its way to a limited top speed of 155 MPH. The Charger has greatly improved, but does it stand a chance against the General Lee? Well, Edmunds decided that they should find out. So, they got the original General Lee, from Bob Hartwig of Cinema Vehicle Services, and pitted it against this Charger R/T to see which Charger is best. You can see the results below.
